Take a look at the Top 10 FAQ!

1.) What is a Mini Session?
A mini session is a quick session that is usually themed! A full session is 1 hour, whereas a mini session is 20-30 mins. A mini session offers you the chance to experience a session with me if you’ve been debating on booking!

2.) Why would I want a Mini Session?
A mini session would be perfect for you if:

  • you are on a tight schedule but need updated photos!
  • you only want a few images for a holiday card/gift!
  • you haven’t worked with me yet and would like to!
  • you’ve been slacking on updating your family photo!
  • you want to get pictures done just because!

3.) How does a Mini Session day work?
Mini session days are hectic for me, but fun for you! Sessions are booked every half hour, lasting 20 minutes. This 10 minute buffer in between sessions allows me to take a breather and also answer questions. It also allows for traffic delays, potty breaks, and coffee runs, hopefully for you, not for me! (Although coffee is always an appreciated tip!) Please arrive a few minutes before your session time to help keep the schedule flowing.

4.) What should I wear?
Whatever you decide to wear, make sure it is comfortable! Have a child that will only wear a specific pair of pants? Start with those! Build the rest of the outfits around that item. Layers and textures look great and accessories are also good for adding little splashes of color. Your family doesn't have to be too matchy-matchy to produce a great photo! Instead, just choose a basic color palette and go from there! Pinterest is full of outfit ideas if you get stuck!

5.) Will there be a set or props?
Every mini session is different. Some are just for updating your photos with a beautiful background, whereas others are themed and therefore will have a set/props. Unless I post an image of the set, it is safe to assume that there will be no props! Props can be fun, but they don’t always make the photos. Sometimes it is best to be natural and capture your family as is!

6.) Can I bring my pet?
YES!!! Please bring your pets, they are your family members too! I would recommend bringing an extra helper with you to watch the fur baby in between shots, or to help get them to look at the camera!

7.) Will I get all the photos I want? The package only includes 10 photos, can I buy more?
I will take as many images and try as many poses are I can within the 20 minutes allotted. Due to it being a mini session, it is limited, so if you have any special requests, please make them known up front so I can be sure to get those taken care of first!

That being said, you will see all of the final edited images from your session. Typically, you will see up to 30 images. From there, you choose the 10 that you would like. If you want to purchase more, you will have the option to purchase individual photo downloads, full session downloads, and prints!

8.) When will I get my images?
I try to deliver images as quickly as possible, but life happens sometimes! Images will be delivered to you via a private viewing link within 14 days.

9.) How can I use my images?
Once you download your chosen images, they are yours! That means you can print, post, send, or whatever else your heart desires! I only ask that you do not edit the photos in any way.

10.) Do you sell prints?
I do! When you access your gallery link, there will be an option to purchase additional downloads, prints, canvases, and much more!

As always, feel free to message/email/call/text/pigeon mail me with any additional questions before or after your session! I can’t wait to see all of you this weekend, and if you haven’t booked yet, now is the time!

Mommas, Milestones, and Mental Health: A Guest Spot by Jennifer Kravitz https://kaylatevesphotography.com/blog/2017/11/mommas-milestones-and-mental-health-a-guest-spot-by-jennifer-kravitz "I make milk. What's your superpower?"

This blog is going to be a little different than usual! I'm handing it over to Jen, who is one of my clients and friends! During our last session, we captured her son's 6 month milk bath, as well as their 6 month breast feeding milestone. Conversation started and we decided that it would be awesome for Jen to share her story with viewers and other mommas out there! So without further ado, take a look at their session and read Jen's story, you won't regret it!

This photo shoot started off as fun way to capture Jr’s 6 month breastfeeding milestone. A milestone that I hold near and dear to my heart. Not only do I celebrate 6 months exclusively breastfeeding my last baby but I also get to celebrate 6 months post-partum without the use of bipolar medication. Breastfeeding has been my lifesaver as it acts as my natural mood stabilizer and helps deliver the endorphins that my brain and body craves.

I was diagnosed at the age of 19 with Bipolar 1 along with rapid cycling after the birth of my first son.  I have struggled with balancing everyday life challenges such as being a stay at home mother to 3, a mother who has 2 children on the spectrum, a wife, a daughter, and many other roles.

I have been on numerous medications since my diagnoses with the exceptions of when I was pregnant or breastfeeding. I can honestly say that breastfeeding has allowed me to be happy, healthy and medication free along with allowing me to become a confident woman and mother.

Motherhood brings on a lot of changes both mentally and physically.  I am a huge advocate for nursing in public as nursing in public has made me more comfortable with my own body. The focus shifts from worrying about how I look to providing nourishment and comfort to my child no matter where i am or who sees me. Society puts a lot of pressure on us as mothers and woman to be perfect.

Every “fat roll”, every stretch mark, This body made 3 beautiful children. Even though I am not “skinny” , I have never felt more beautiful or more myself then I do now. I can honestly say I love myself. I love every inch of myself. Those stretch marks that you think are ugly, well those are my battle wounds from bringing precious life into this world.

Those “fat rolls” that society portrays as disgusting, well that skin protected and was my babies home for 9 months.

Those “saggy boobs”, that aren’t perky anymore, well those have fed and brought nutrition and health to my babies.

I will NEVER let society tell me I am not beautiful. I will NEVER be ashamed of the body that did its job by creating, protecting and bringing life to my 3 beautiful babies.

No matter if you breastfeed or formula feed, weather your married or single, weather you birthed a child or adopted, weather you suffer from mental illness or have struggled somewhere within your life.... we are all mothers who are doing their best to provide our children with love and support.  I hope my honesty and vulnerability in this post will help others to become more confident within themselves and be more supportive to one another.

If you struggle, please know you are not alone. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Somewhere Over the Rainbow https://kaylatevesphotography.com/blog/2017/8/somewhere-over-the-rainbow Some of you may remember my clients Saudi & Frank, who allowed me to help them announce their pregnancy after suffering two losses. They announced they were having twins and for months all we heard about was A & I.  Well I'm happy to announce that they are here and they are Austin and Isaac! I'm so happy that I got to share in this journey with them, from a little belly to a big belly, to celebrating their baby shower, to welcoming the boys to the world at their newborn session. I can't wait to see what other memories we capture in the future! Take a look at these rainbow babies (and my first ever set of newborn twins)!

Rainbow Babies! https://kaylatevesphotography.com/blog/2017/5/rainbow-babies "No matter how long the rain lasts,

there will be a rainbow in the end.

No matter how sad you may be, believe,

that happiness is waiting. "

Back in January, I had the pleasure of shooting this reveal session with Saudi and Frank! At the time, the couple had recently found out they were having twins and wanted to announce it to their family in a big way. They had previously suffered two losses, and wanted the world to know about their rainbow babies!

When we shot the photos, we didn't yet know the gender, so we planned for all possibilities. We took photos with two pink balloons, which dad laughed at, joking about the shopping tab that would be made with 3 women in his life. We took photos with one pink and one blue balloon, but oddly enough, the 2 balloon kept spinning out of place. Then when we shot the photos with the two blue balloons, the 2 stayed perfectly straight, and the expressions on mom and dad's faces were priceless! I knew we didn't get these perfectly framed images by chance. For the record, I called it that day ;)

Saudi and Frank will be welcoming twin boys A&I this summer! I'm lucky enough to be shooting their maternity session at the Boston Public Garden this coming weekend and their baby shower at the end of the month, plus we have big plans for newborn photos! Check out their reveal photos below and keep a look out for more to come.

Milk Bath! https://kaylatevesphotography.com/blog/2017/3/milk-bath Part of being a photographer means taking chances, breaking out of your comfort zone and attempting new trends/fads. The new trend in the photo world right now is milk bath sessions! Milk baths are used to signify many things, but mainly are used to signify the importance of breast feeding and the bond it brings between mother and child.

I reached out to my friend Jenny who was having a bit of a difficult pregnancy, asking her if she wanted to model a new blue maternity dress I bought! She gladly accepted, and then asked me to do the impossible, or so I thought. She asked me to do a milk bath! At first, I admit that I was nervous. It was something I had never done before and wasn't sure how to even pull it off.

From my research/trial and error process, I learned quite a few things. For starters, fake flowers don't float. I don't know why, but I really didn't even consider that. Also, whole milk gives the best "milky" (for the lack of a better word) look, while keeping the water light and still somewhat transparent. A lot of sites noted to use powdered milk, but I just used two half- gallons of whole milk.

I started off with using just one of the half gallons, and sort of worked my way up, adding more to see the effect. I also started with the bath half full, and then added more water as I went to try different poses. Jenny was awesome in letting me practice different ideas and taking my time. It was a longer session than normal, but we had so much fun and got to achieve such a beautiful, dreamy look.

We will be repeating this look when her baby boy, Scotty Jr. comes in just a few weeks!! Take a look at these beautiful shots!!

Collaboration with Lisa Michelle Makeup Artistry https://kaylatevesphotography.com/blog/2017/3/collaboration-with-lisa-michelle-makeup-artistry This time last year I had the pleasure of working with an amazing makeup artist, Lisa Michelle! We decided to shoot the following four concepts for her portfolio which was presented at a makeup competition in NYC! I took forever to share these images because she was seeking job opportunities, networking, and attending the competition. But, now it's been long enough that I can finally post them!

A special thank you to Alexa, Gig, and Lisa for being wonderful models!

(Double thanks to Alexa for being a model twice!!)

Spring Promo! https://kaylatevesphotography.com/blog/2017/3/spring-promo "The beautiful spring came;

and when Nature resumes her loveliness,

the human soul is apt to revive also."

-Harriet Ann Jacobs

As many of you know, I just launched my spring promo for this year! If you haven't seen it yet, be sure to check out my Facebook page for more info, or scroll alllllllllllllll the way down to the bottom of this post to see it! It will be running until at least April, but I book up quickly, so don't wait!

This year I've decided to take a bit more of a minimalist approach. I will have a cute set up with eggs and carrots and all that jazz for some shots, but I will also be focusing more on the natural beauty of spring and my little chickens! To see what I mean, check out my niece's adorable spring session below!

Two Fancy! https://kaylatevesphotography.com/blog/2016/11/two-fancy

"Watching children grow up, you learn a lot about life

and about being a better person - you learn a lot about what's

really important in the world and what isn't."

- Sharon Stone

Today we celebrate a little girl who is Two Fancy!

Gabriela turns 2 today and I decided it would be the perfect time to flashback through our journey together!

From the belly days, to sea shell hunting, to cake smashing, and leave crunching.

It has been a pleasure to watch you grow, Gabri! Here's to 3, 4, & many more!

Kelsey and Anthony's maternity session was awesome! It was not only my first outdoor maternity session, but it was the start of our photography adventure together! And some of you other mommas might notice what I like to call "THE DRESS"! Kelsea was sweet enough to donate this dress to me, and since then she's used it as a back drop for Gabri's newborn pictures, and wore it again to celebrate their one year breast feeding anniversary/Gabri's first birthday. Other mommas have gotten to use it too which I think is so sweet and special!

Gabri was the sweetest, cutest, smallest baby! She slept through almost her whole session. This was the first time I met her, but by then, it felt like we had been friends forever! It's so special and exciting seeing a baby in their mommas belly and capturing those moments, and then getting to do the same when they enter the world!

Gabri was about 8 months here I believe, if I'm wrong momma can correct me! But we had a blast taking some family photos. They got lucky and had an amazing sky and amazing weather. And if I remember correctly, this was after two failed attempts, when we both showed up to a black sky at the beach, not once....but twice!!! Well worth the wait!

This was BY FAR the most fun I've had during a cake smash shoot. From the set, to the homemade cake her momma made, to her Etsy milestone sign, we had the whole session ready and Gabri rocked it! She loved her cake and wore a bit of it too!

This session started with a bit of hesitation. We hadn't seen each other in a year, so I don't blame her for being a bit nervous! But, we still tried! We went for a walk, listened to music, and played in the leaves, all of which turned her frown upside down!

I also want to congratulate Gabri's momma, Kelsea, on her 2 year breastfeeding anniversary! By now, most would have had to stop, would have given up, would have gotten bored of it, but you've stuck with it and these images show how important this bond was and still is for both of you!

Oh, The Places You'll Go! https://kaylatevesphotography.com/blog/2016/11/oh-the-places-youll-go "You're on your own.

And you know what you know.

I had the pleasure of taking my beautiful cousin Julia's senior portraits a few weeks back at Lake Quannapowitt in Wakefield! This location is by far my favorite. It has the perfect combo of everything a photographer is looking for: woods, paths, benches, water, & more paths! I always find paths to be fitting for senior portraits; representing the end of one journey and the start of another. Take a look at these shots from her session and let us know what you think!

Baby Bump Love! https://kaylatevesphotography.com/blog/2016/8/babybumplove “A baby will make love stronger, days shorter, nights longer, bankroll smaller, home happier,

clothes shabbier, the past forgotten and the future worth living for."

This month I had the pleasure of working with Francesca and John who are expecting their already-a-diva daughter, Giana, in just a few short weeks! We started with a few bumps in the road, but in the end I think we managed to pull it all together. A session like this one is something that every photographer dreams of, full of all the perfect ingredients: a fun (& good looking to boot!) couple, a beautiful sky, and perfect lighting! It's an amazing feeling when all of the pieces fall together and you have a session full of laughs, happy tears, and a whole lot of baby bump love!

Lily's 1st Birthday! https://kaylatevesphotography.com/blog/2015/8/lilys-1st-birthday Cake Smash (noun):

"The precious tradition of baking your

one-year-old birthday child their very own cake to do whatever

they wish with…mainly it makes for great photos to enjoy for years to come."

Lily is one today and for her special day, we decided to have some cake smash fun! Lily was an awesome subject, with her big smiles and even bigger personality. In honor of her birthday, I thought I would tell you guys a little bit about her and show you some of her incredibly cute cake smash pictures! :)

Lily's 1st Year:

Her first word was "mama!" and

she has been walking since 10 1/2 months!

She loves to watch Color Crew & read You're My Little Love Bug!

She loves to say "baby" instead of mama and dada, she's a big fan

of kisses, and she thinks it's a blast to make funny noises :)

Last but not least, her favorite toy is her dolly….

& she clearly loves cake (well maybe just frosting)!

It feels (and tastes) good to be one, doesn't it!

Daddy had to help her dig in so she could get some cake, not just frosting!

That cake didn't stand a chance!

A little success…. and a little failure! https://kaylatevesphotography.com/blog/2015/2/a-little-success-and-a-little-failure I realized two things today: that I have been succeeding with my photography at the same rate as I am failing at my photography…..and I'm okay with that! It may sound strange to be okay with something like that, but it is all a part of becoming an artist and finding out what is important to you and what just isn't.

Success….simply put, I am growing as an artist. My work has gotten a lot better over the past 6 years, thanks in part to people who've doubted me, people who've supported me, and most importantly people who've taught me. It took me a while to become confident in what I do, especially when it came to charging people for my time and work. I can proudly say that today, I know that I have something to offer, I know my time is worth more than it used to be because my work rises above the failures I've had in the past. I'm also succeeding because of my wonderful clients! Some have stuck with me through the horrible home visits with no lights and shooting in JPEG only (you guys rock, I'm sorry for those days!) to the great days we've spent hanging in the studio producing beautiful raw (and RAW) images. Even if you don't understand my fancy photography terms, know that I am grateful that you all believed in me and stuck by me, and now we can both reap the benefits of my journey!

Failure….it seems like such a depressing word, but really it is part of growth, which can be an amazing thing. I'm failing in the sense that I have become somewhat stagnant; comfortable in my resting state of acceptable talent and easy jobs. I'm failing myself because I am not challenging myself. I've come to impress people with my work, so I'm afraid to try new things because may it won't be as impressive as what I've been able to do thus far. It seems silly, because the logical order of things says that I will only get better as time goes on, but there's that inner critic that all of us artists have that screams "Don't do it! They might hate it!" or something along those lines. I've had some amazing project ideas, including a 365 project which captures every day of your life for a year through photos, but then I somehow just lose sight of them because I'm comfortable with what I have going on.

I started the 365 project and got 5 pictures in and realized I hated it…which is okay! I guess it just shows that not all projects have to be finished in order to show us something. This project showed me that I don't like to be told to take photos, I like for the urge to just occur and to act on what I see naturally, not look for something because a piece of paper tells me to. Failing the 365 project taught me that failing and succeeding can come hand in hand, even if they seem like an unlikely pair. I failed the project, but I succeeding in defining myself in that moment.

Now that I've ranted long enough to put you all to sleep….here are the 5 pictures from my failed project. Although I failed, they capture perfectly the 5 main things that are currently present in my life: color, passion, love, relaxation, and a hell of a lot of snow.
